EKITI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY COMMENCES IMPEACHMENT OF GOV. FAYOSE

The few months old controversial Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose's faith has been thrown into the scale by State House of Assembly members.

The governor, whose election is still a subject of controversy was served a notice of impeachment by 19 members of the state legislature.

The 19 members have agreed to commence investigations into allegations of grave misconduct against Governor Ayodele Fayose. This is in pursuance of the provision of section 188 (1) of the constitution of The Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

The Governor known for his recklessness in addressing his political foes like the former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the President-elect, Buhari, is expected to be easily uprooted through numerous allegation of misconduct says an Ekiti political observer.

The impeachment move and the expected subsequent prosecution of Mr Fayose will send signals to other politicians of same or similar breed that impunity will no longer prevail in our polity.
