We Will Rescue The Chibok Girls – Buhari




The Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has pledged that his government would do all possible to rescue the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok community in Borno State, North-east, Nigeria on April 14, 2014.

The promise comes on the first year anniversary of the abduction of the girls from their dormitory at the Government Girls College, Chibok, Borno State, by Boko Haram militants.
The outgoing Federal Government of Nigeria has been widely criticized for not doing enough to rescue the girls from the cage of Boko Haram sect.

They believe that the government had the opportunity to rescue the girls in the early days of their abduction but failed in its responsibility due to political reasons.

We want INEC to Cancel Enugu Governorship Election.. --APC





The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April 11th governorship election, Mr. Okey Ezea, has called for the cancellation of the election, which produced the Governor-Elect of Enugu State, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Mr. Ifeanyi, according to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), polled 282, 277 votes, while Mr. Ezea polled 43, 839 votes.

Victory at Last for Governor Fayose of Ekiti




The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has dedicated the Supreme Court’s judgement, affirming his victory in the Ekiti State governorship election held last year, to God.

In a statement after the court’s judgement, Governor Fayose said: “I want to sincerely appreciate Ekiti people for their resilience and love for me. I am formally dedicating this victory to God and to them”.

“Having voted for me 10 months ago, and confirming the victory by the subsequent elections in the last few weeks, the people of Ekiti State have shown that they are unequivocal about their choice and their determination to protect and defend that mandate”.

Gen. Buhari Blamed Okonjo-Iweala for Nigeria's current Financial Situation





Sahara Reporters has hosted President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari and asked him specific questions about his anti-corruption agenda.

Gen. Buhari blamed the Finance Minister Okonjo Iweala for Nigeria's current financial situation, and said that every minister under his rule will declare their assets in public.

His words, transcribed by the media house: “I’m afraid the Finance Minister has no cause to complain because the governors cannot force the central government to act outside the Constitution.”

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has Congratulated Nigerians for the Success of the April 11th Elections




The United States Embassy in Nigeria has congratulated Nigerians and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the success of the April 11th governorship and State Assembly elections.

In a statement published on its website and shared via Twitter on Monday the 13th, the United State Embassy urged those aggrieved with the conduct of the elections which “generally went well” to seek redress through peaceful means.

All My Political Appointees will Declare their Assets on Resumption and Termination of their Appointment - Gen. Buhari





The President elect, Gen Muhammadu Buhari said all political office holders, governors, ministers, permanent secretaries, head of foreign staff and others, will be declaring their assets before a law court on assumption of their appointment and at the end of their appointment.

According to Gen. Buhari, this would ensure accountability amongst public servants.
He said this in an interview with Sahara TV yesterday April 12th.

"All those that were governors, ministers, permanent secretaries, head of foreign staff and all those with political appointments will have to declare their assets on the assumption of their appointment and definitely with the courts. And once they leave they have to re-declare their assets.” he said.

Ambode Wants to Partner with Agbaje




The Lagos State Governor-elect, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has called on the People Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr Jimi Agbaje and others who contested against him to join hands with his administration to build the state. Mr. Ambode spoke on Sunday while delivering his acceptance speech at the All Progressive Congress (APC) secretariat in Lagos shortly after he was declared winner of the governorship elections.

Mr. Ambode was announced as winner of the Saturday 11th election after securing 811994 votes against his PDP’s closest rival, Agbaje who scored 659,788 votes. “To my main opponent, Mr Jimi Agbaje of the People Democratic Party (PDP), I thank you for a keen contest and invite you, alongside other gubernatorial candidates, to join hands with me in moving Lagos forward,” he said.
